The law on workplace pensions has changed. Every employer with at least one member of staff now has new responsibilities, which include enrolling employees, who meet certain criteria, into a workplace pension scheme and contributing towards it.
This is automatic enrolment. It is so named because it’s automatic for your staff – they don’t have to do anything to be enrolled into the pension scheme. But it’s not automatic for employers. You need to take steps to make sure they’re enrolled.
All employees that earn more than £5772.00 and less than £41865.00 (April 2014) are classed as eligible workers. They will be automatically enrolled into the workplace pension, unless they as individuals choose to opt out. However the employer still needs to have made provision for auto enrolment.
The staging date is the date that each employer has to comply and have procedures and a workplace pension scheme in place and operational.

You will need to ensure your payroll provider can link in with your chosen pension provider.
